if he’s availible, you might want to go with Perry, scoring winger to go along with Malkin. I don’t see any “Must have” d-men availible, so I would go

pick 2 Perry, Pick 3 goalie (Turco, Price, Smith)

2nd Round Pick

I’d definitely go with Perry in the 2nd. I wish we could actually get him in real life.

… like I said in the other thread, go with Pekka Rinne in the 2nd round.

you won’t find a starting goaltender or top player at their position for cheaper. .917 save percentage / 7 shoutouts on a non playoff team trumps the accomplisments of any of those other guys.

Pekka Rinne

Went 4 picks ahead of us. I was definitely headed in that direction though.

What about Bobby Ryan?

I think Corey Perry is a more established player.

He should provide us with better numbers in a simulation.

Goalies

It looks like most of the teams have been going after goalies but I think we can wait until the 3rd to pick up the best goalie of what is remaining.

alright then...

with Rinne and some others gone, the best picks left are (according to GVT)…

1. David Krejci
2. Jonas Hiller
3. Patrick Elias
4. Mark Streit
5. Brian Rafalski
6. Dennis Wideman
7. Rob Blake
8. Shea Weber
9. Jamie Langenbrunner
10. Jason Blake

I’d say pick Jonas Hiller in the 2nd round and either David Krejci or Mark Streit depending on whether we want a “stud” defenceman or not in the 3rd…

2nd Round

He already picked Perry and Hiller was picked by the Blackhawks before us

damn

well I’d say the best value goaltender left right now is probably Martin Biron. I’d advise maybe waiting till the 4th round to draft him though, there’s some really great talent at forward and D still on the board.

by Alistar on Jul 31, 2009 2:51 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

also..

I would not wait until the 3rd to pick Hiller, the teams that picked 1st and 2nd overall both took forwards and will obviously take a goaltender with one of their next two picks after our 2nd rounder.

by Alistar on Jul 31, 2009 2:41 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Yep, pick is made.

Went with Hiller.

Also, we really need to start looking at salaries as well. We’ve now got $14 million tied up in two players.

round 3

take Mark Streit. Stud defenceman that only makes 4.1 mill

after that we got to think really cheap.
