Dallas Stars sign Jere Lehtinen to a one year deal.

One of the bigger question marks on just what the Stars would do this summer with their potential free agents is now locked up for another season.

The press release from the Dallas Stars official website:

Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk announced today that the club has re-signed right wing Jere Lehtinen to a one-year contract for the 2009-10 season. His deal includes a $1.5 million base salary, and as much as $1 million more in incentives.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Jere Lehtinen back with our club next season," said Nieuwendyk. "He has been one of the cornerstones of this franchise for many years, and we feel he will continue to be a significant contributor going forward. Jere is a consummate professional on and off the ice, and we look forward to his healthy return next season."

What do you think Stars fans? Is this an ideal signing? Are you happy to see Jere back for another season and might we see a same kind of deal for Zubov in the next day or two?

Works for me. The forward group is set. Jamie Benn will play in Austin, Lehtinen will play for the Stars. We’ve got a nice group of forwards, if they stay healthy.

Let’s work on that defense.

This is perfect.

The right price for a valuable winger. He’s got great chemistry with Morrow and Ribs and he’s still one of the best defensive forwards to ever play the game.
