TSN: Dave Tippett Fired
I should note that Mike Heika has been trying to get confirmation from the Stars and Tippett and neither side is returning his calls.
The official site also doesn't have any news of the firing. But I don't have any reason to doubt TSN.
BTW, Marc Crawford's already being rumored as a replacement. And of course, expect a pro-Carbonneau push from nostalgic Stars fans.

Wow...
that really shouldn’t surprise me given the way the team played last year after a really good season but it does.
So, who do we go after? Promote from within?

My .02
Carbonneau would no doubt be the safe choice and would certainly be given more leeway by the fans than anybody else. Especially Marc Crawford, who I wouldn’t be too enthusiastic about getting and hasn’t really accomplished much behind the bench since leaving Colorado in the 90’s.
I doubt very seriously that the Stars would promote from within. But then again, I didn’t see this coming.

Agree
I agree completely about both issues. Don’t want to see Crawford here…at all.
As you said, Carbonneau would be given a ton of slack to work with but, really, I don’t know how much that would help with this team. Do we really want someone that understands that he has time to work and adjust the team as he sees fit (which could last for multiple seasons) or do we want someone that pushes the team because he understands there isn’t a lot of time remaining for him to make his mark?
Anyway, who knows. For all I know, they are gonna bring back Hitch (no, I don’t really believe that).

Im extremely disappointed in this move
The reason the team was bad last year was because of injuries and bad luck. It had nothing to do with the skills of the coach in charge. Tippet was doing a fine job. This SUCKS.
