Who are your winners for the Dallas Stars team awards?

The various SB Nation hockey bloggers all submitted their picks today for who they thought were the winners of the big five NHL awards, specific to their team.

The picks Defending Big D submitted for the Stars:

Hart: Loui Eriksson
Norris: Nik Grossman
Vezina: Marty Turco
Calder: James Neal
Selke: Toby Petersen

Some of these picks were easy, such as the Vezina and Calder. But the others were a bit more subjective and there is argument for that some were more deserving.

Give your picks below, who you think are the winners for the Dallas Stars in each category.

ugh.

You’re making a giant assumption that at least someone on the Stars deserves each of these awards, which is pretty ludicrous to me. Even team-specific.

Especially the Vezina. Turco shouldn’t win it by default. Playing the most games and sucking just a bit less than Stephan shouldn’t guarantee you anything.

To me, Loui is the only player worth a darn this year. What an awesome coming out for him.

come on bro

Steve Ott had a breakout year, Mike Ribiero was still steady, James Neal was among the best Rookies, Richards when not injured was a force, Sutherby was a very solid player when he came over, our young D man had bumps but still showed a lot (fistric, Grossman, Niskanen)

This team had a lot of good going on, it just could not outwiegh the injuries.

A few points

Nowhere is there the assumption that any of the players nominated ‘deserve’ the award. They’re just the players Brandon and I thought should be nominated.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Don’t read too much into it.

I’d vote for B-Rad as MPD, Most Predictable Dresser. Dark suit, dress shirt unbuttoned two buttons, and either the suit or the shirt is striped. I think he’d win that for the 8th straight year. =P

On a serious note, I’ll give oodles of credit to Ribeiro for maintaining. I don’t like the guy one bit, but it all pretty much came down to him and he kept playing (albeit it his usual 40 minutes of effort for a 60 minute game). By default, he leads the team in scoring, and that is all people will remember in several years.

Steve Ott really found himself this year. I just wish he’d cut down on the stupidity sometimes. Much better this year than what i saw last year, but he needs to continue working on limits and when being the agitator is just being selfish.

Eriksson and Neal… what can you say about those guys other than the future looks bright (and the future is very very close). Lots and lots of talent there. And they are really just starting. Neal is, what, 22? He’s going to be a force.

The D are very young. Grossman is finding his niche, Fistric ain’t all that bad. Daley and Niskanen did struggle, but again, they are very young. And without Zubov, they were on their own to learn by their own mistakes rather than experience of a veteran.

I’ll openly admit by bias as a Richards, but seriously, that dude is a force. Lots of fans are not sold on him, but (or because) he does so much that isn’t obvious. It has always been his game to be pretty invisible (in a good way). Some people confuse the invisible in a good way with being worthless. Totally not true. I’m not sure anyone on that team comes close to connecting on passes like B-Rad does. It’s cliche, but he makes those around him better. Hmmm… Hagman last year, Eriksson this year… seeing a pattern? The team missed Morrow, and losing any other scorer would have been devastating, but man oh man did the loss of Richards really showed how good he is and how much he brings to the team.

And I’d hate for this to be Modano’s last season, just because it stinks to go out on a sour note, but he looked so over this whole hockey thing so many times this year. You could tell in his play and his off-ice comments that it might be time to step away from the game for awhile.

Turco? Well, there is that whole “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” policy, so I won’t say anything.

My Picks

I know I’m a little late to the party, but I had to put my two cents in anyway.

Norris: Stéphane Robidas
Vezina: umm…hmm…give me a minute…ok, ok …Marty Turco
Calder: James Neal
Selke: Loui Eriksson (although I really liked your pick of Toby Petersen)

And what’s my pick for the Hart? Do you have to ask?
Hart: STEVE OTT
