Maybe Last Night Was a Reverse April Fool's Jinx or Something
Because really, you knew that goal that Marty Turco surrendered to Anze Kopitar with 1:31 left in the third was going to be the start of another meltdown in the Stars' house of horrors, aka The Staples Center.
But no, the meltdown never came. And for just the second time in their last seven visits to LaLa Land, the Stars held on to win in regulation for the first time in nearly two weeks.
On a side note, it's a little hard to believe Dallas went 3-0-1 against the Kings in the 2006-07 season. Maybe that's where the reverse jinx actually lies.
Whatever the case, I'll continue on a meme I started over at my other blogging outpost and suggest that for the Stars' sake, let's let the winning continue.
This team has gone through enough this season with the bad start, the injuries, Sean Avery's hijinks, and missing the playoffs. They deserve a little reward for their effort. And in a way, the 2009-10 preseason has already started for this club.
However they finish the season is what they'll take with them into next season. So it's up to them whether they want to mail it in these final five games of the year, or set the tone for next season.

It seems as though
That the kids who are filling in right now for the injured guys are finally feeling comfortable out there on the ice. Even though it sucks that we are basically out of it, its still good to have the kids go out there and play some and let us get a good look at them to see if they can play at this level. Really helps for next year…when we finally get healthy again (knocks on wood)
Is it April 6 Yet?
Definitely.
It’s good to see Conner, Stafford, Jancevski, Wandell and even Neal (who is in a much more important role now) all get significant playing time in the NHL with the Stars. While the circumstances definitely could be better, gaining confidence now will pay off greatly down the road.
