Dallas Stars afternoon update: Brad Richards back on the ice

Mike Heika has a post up from today's practice. The big news to come from the skate was that Jere Lehtinen, Fabian Brunnstrom, Mark Parrish and Brad Richards were all out on the ice in full gear.

Now before everyone gets too excited, Richards stated that he still has a long ways to go in rehab, but that he has his own ideas on when he will return. Richards was injured on Feb. 16 and was originally given 6-8 weeks to return.

Lehtinen and Brunnstrom are still listed as questionable with upper-body injuries but could play tomorrow night against Minnesota.

Andrew's Dallas Stars Page has the audio from Loui Eriksson's appearance today on BaD Radio.

Wow

This should give the team a definitepep in it’s step in the next game.

He’s got another 20 days or so (9 games?). I want him back as much as anyone, but the thought of risky permanent damage by pushing too much, too soon for a short term goal is scary proposition neither he nor the Stars can afford.

But he’s a beast and an amazing professional. He’ll want to be out there. Hopefully the trainers are as good as I hope they are. His wrist is one of his greatest physical assets.

I agree.

I don’t want him to push it any harder than he has to. But I’m sure that Richards is focusing on the 6 week mark and aiming at that as a timeframe to come back.
