Standings watch: Around the West
The only other game in the Western conference last night was a 2-0 Nashville Predators victory over the Minnesota Wild. The Wild loss coupled with the Stars win puts the Stars back into 5th place in the Western conference.

Today's games of note:
Anaheim @ Calgary
Edmonton @ Detroit
San Jose @ Columbus
An Anaheim and Edmonton loss will help pad the Stars' lead over those below them. If the Stars win again tomorrow then the Stars can give themselves just a bit of breathing room between themselves and 9th place.
However, expect this constant jostling in the standings until the Stars can catch up to those around them in games played.
Here's Mark Stepneski's rundown of the standings based on points percentage.

well
the Oilers are already getting creamed 5-0 so it looks good from that standpoint.
In reference to how good the Steelers have been in their history: "No one is even close to them."- Steal Home
And Edmonton was walloped by Detroit 8-3.
I’m not impressed however.

Looking at those standings makes me wonder
if the NHL ever considered re-ordering them based on points alone. I know that winning the division has to count for something, but it seems kinda crappy to think that the Stars could have 76 points and still be in fourth.
Conner was sent down to make room for Avery.
Expect him to get called back up as soon as Avery clears waivers and is sent to the minors.
In the meantime, expect Mark parrish to take his spot on the Modano and Neal line. Brunnstrom tweaked his ankle at the end of the game last night and didn’t make through the entire practice today.

Ugh, that sucks about Brunnstrom
He played a pretty good game last night. Hopefully he will be back in no time.
