Brenden Morrow Lone Stars Selection to Team Canada
TSN is liveblogging the announcement, BTW. They're also keeping a running tally on the selections here. Unfortunately, Stephane Robidas was not selected, nor were Brad Richards or James Neal.
The bigger story is that neither Dion Phaneuf nor Jay Bouwmeester were selected from the Flames. Nor was Mike Green of the Capitals chosen. Green currently leads in the NHL in scoring for defensemen.
Here's the complete roster:
Scott Niedermayer will captain Team Canada at the 2010 Olympic Games.
The veteran was one of seven defenders named to the team on Wednesday at an unveiling in Saskatoon, Sask.
Joining him on the blueline for Canada are Dan Boyle, Drew Doughty, Duncan Keith, Chris Pronger (who was named an alternate captain), Shea Weber and Brent Seabrook.
Forwards Sidney Crosby and Jarome Iginla were named Canada's other two alternate captains.
Rounding out Canada's forwards are Patrice Bergeron, Ryan Getzlaf, Dany Heatley, Patrick Marleau, Brenden Morrow, Rich Nash, Corey Perry, Mike Richards, Eric Staal, Joe Thornton and Jonathan Toews.
Martin Brodeur, Marc-Andre Fleury and Roberto Luongo will be between the pipes for Canada.
Watch the team announcement live.
Here's how Team Canada breaks down so far:

I know no one here cares but way to go Dan Boyle!
It always makes me happy to see my fellow Miamians doing well. Love ya Danny and I hope you like silver. I still want my USA boys to win the gold.
Back more on topic, in a totally Stars-centered way, I am kind of glad Robidas, Richards and Neal didn’t make the team. There is always a chance of a player getting injured during the Olympics or coming back and being exhausted come April. So I am sorry for those three personally but with as many players as we have on some of the other teams, I am not too terribly disappointed.
I must have this thing for hockey boys from Whitby with the initials JN.
