Loui Eriksson Earns Spot on Swedish Olympic Team
And according to Mark Stepneski, Niklas Grossman was considered a strong contender for a spot on the blue line but was not selected. Still, we're over a month away from the start of the Olympics and anything can happen in regards to injuries.
For Loui, this will mark the fourth time in his hockey career that he's been called upon to don the Tre Kronor ("three crowns") having recently played in the 2009 World Championships. Eriksson also played in the 2003 Under-18 World Junior Championship and the World Junior Hockey Championship in 2004 and 2005.
The rest of the Swedish roster includes:
Goalkeepers: Jonas Gustavsson (Toronto Maple Leafs), Stefan Liv (HV71) Henrik Lundqvist (New York Rangers).
Defenders: Tobias Enstrom (Atlanta Thrashers), Magnus Johansson (Linkopings HC), Niklas Kronwall (Detroit Red Wings), Nicklas Lidstrom (Detroit Red Wings), Douglas Murray (San Jose Sharks), Johnny Oduya (New Jersey Devils), Henrik Tallinder (Buffalo Sabres), Mattias Ohlund (Tampa Bay Lightning).
Forwards: Daniel Alfredsson (Ottawa Senators), Nicklas Backstrom (Washington Capitals), Loui Eriksson (Dallas Stars), Peter Forsberg (Modo Hockey), Tomas Holmstrom (Detroit Red Wings), Patric Hornqvist (Nashville Predators), Fredrik Modin (Columbus Blue Jackets), Samuel Pahlsson (Columbus Blue Jackets), Daniel Sedin (Vancouver Canucks), Henrik Sedin (Vancouver Canucks) Mattias Weinhandl (Dynamo Moskva), Henrik Zetterberg (Detroit Red Wings).

Sweden is going to give Canada a run for it's money, you have to think.
Although it’s going to be interesting to see if Alfredsson plays. He’s supposed to return from injury before then, but we’ll see.
