Brent Krahn Named AHL Goaltender of the Month

From the Texas Stars:

Cedar Park, TX – The American Hockey League announced Tuesday that Brent Krahn of the Texas Stars has been named the Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month for November.

Krahn allowed just seven goals on 210 shots in six appearances on the month, going 5-1-0 with a 1.16 goals-against average, a .967 save percentage and two shutouts. Krahn began November by making 33 saves in the Stars' 3-1 win over Manitoba on Nov. 7. He blanked Rockford (32 saves) on Nov. 13 and San Antonio (44 saves) on Nov. 15 in consecutive starts, and ran his shutout streak to 162:36 during a 31-save effort in a 3-1 win at Rockford on Nov. 18. Krahn's personal winning streak reached 10 games on Nov. 21 as he made 41 saves in a 4-3 overtime win over the IceHogs.

In recognition of his achievement, Krahn will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Stars home game.

In 12 appearances with Texas this season, Krahn has posted a record of 10-2-0 with three shutouts and he leads the league with a 1.41 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage, allowing 17 goals on 402 shots overall. A first-round draft pick (ninth overall) by Calgary in 2000, Krahn is 87-67-14 with 16 shutouts in 180 career AHL games. The 27-year-old Winnipeg native made his NHL debut with Dallas last season, appearing in one contest.

Other nominees for Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month include Adirondack's Johan Backlund, Albany's Justin Peters, Binghamton's Andy Chiodo, Bridgeport's Scott Munroe, Chicago's Peter Mannino, Grand Rapids' Daniel Larsson, Hamilton's Cedrick Desjardins, Hartford's Chad Johnson, Hershey's Michal Neuvirth, Houston's Anton Khudobin, Lowell's Mike McKenna, Manchester's Jonathan Bernier, Manitoba's Cory Schneider, Milwaukee's Chet Pickard, Norfolk's Riku Helenius, Portland's Jean-Philippe Lamoureux, Rochester's Alexander Salak, Rockford's Joe Fallon, San Antonio's Josh Tordjman, Toronto's James Reimer, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's John Curry and Worcester's Alex Stalock.

Krahn is actually out right now with a nagging injury and Richard Bachman has been recalled from the ECHL to help out on the Texas Stars.
