Game on!!
First goal? I’m gonna say Neal…
Final score? Ducks haven’t been that great… So I’ll say 3-2 Stars!
Let's just have a good start.
Anaheim is going to come out swinging.

Watching Hiller is so frustrating because he always seems to be down on the ice but he’s so tall even on his knees he can cover the top
And he wears gigantic pads so he doesn’t even need to do much to get in the way. I’m real interested to see all the goalies next season with the NHL-fitted pads.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
by Fehr and Balanced on Oct 21, 2009 9:28 PM CDT up reply actions
Agreed, but I think it’s a short term “fix” personally I love low-scoring hockey so I don’t mind the current state of affairs but they will adapt and keep the goals down no matter what changes i’m sure
I don’t mind low-scoring hockey, but I wouldn’t say I love it. If there are a ton of chances and the goalies are just coming up with huge saves I’m cool with it but a 20-18 SOG battle isn’t gonna get the blood pumping.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...
by Fehr and Balanced on Oct 21, 2009 9:31 PM CDT up reply actions
True, but changing the goalie’s pads won’t increase the shots on goal, players will still pass and wait for the “good” shot
No it won’t, but it will make sure the goalies are actually making awesome saves instead of just dropping to their knees. Hiller’s pads (and several others) are so big that they literally can take up 1/4 of the net on their own. I think that’s a bit absurd. The rise above the knees covers the 5 hole more than should be allowed and I think that’s the biggest problem. I watched the PIT/STL game last night and MAF’s pads come up almost right to his hip-flexor.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...

Well yes, that is true. Seeing Hasek flopping around like a jellyfish and still making the save was much more exciting than Hiller any day :P
Ha. I hate Hasek. Even look at modern-Brodeur. His pads are bigger than they used to be but are still much smaller than a lot of other goalies. He relies a lot more on talent than equipment and I think that’s how it should be.

Agreed, he is one of my favorite goalies (His book is a must read!) Hasek drove me nuts, but he certainly made the saves look exciting :P

Haha. Me too, but my comment was about Hasek. Any goalie that a) flops like him; b) throws his glove at another player mid-game; c) beats up a dude in a roller hockey league has got to be a total D bag.
I was so happy to see Brodeur blow that G7 last year, even if it was against CAR.

The NHL needs to seriously make Razor the example of how to do color commentary in non-traditional markets. He does an absolutely great job of relating hockey principles to football principles (slew foot is the horse collar) and I think the NHL should have caught onto that way earlier. He also has amazing knowledge of the game and is great at conveying it.

Tough play for Turco to cover..
And Karlis couldn’t change.. Sometimes bad things just happen and ya gotta move on.
He did...
Covered the bottom half.
As a goalie you have to be on guard for the cross ice pass so Marty had to cheat a little. you cover as much of the side as you can, but you also gotta hope he can’t roof it quite like Getzlaf did.

I would have to see the replay but it looked to me that if Turco held the post there Getzlaf would have been able to beat him to the far post with his speed and reach. That’s a tough spot for Turco with such a skilled guy coming in on him with speed and space.

Very true.
Sometimes a player just makes a great shot and ya gotta tip your helmet and move on.
Turco gave him a space of about a foot and a half by two feet and Getzlaf roofed it. If Turco had been hugging the post, Getzlaf would have simply seen it, thrown the puck across the ice for a tap in… Or he would have swung around the net to the other side to create a chance and get Turco moving side to side.
As soon as Getzklaf had position on Skrastins, it was almost a done deal.

I would say the Stars have nothing to worry about because they’ve controlled the game. But all things considered ANA has to feel pretty good only being 2 down and they are definitely within striking distance if they decide to play hockey.
If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...

Um, anyone know what happened to the radio feed?
I was listening to it via the Stars’ site, and it went POOF!

That's the thing
Both me here in Wisconsin and my friend down in Texas both had the radio poof. Hmmh…

Yeah, I meant maybe the station here in dallas is having issues because we have storms rolling in here, so from the source? But no idea
Aaah...that completely makes sense.
I thought you meant storms up here. :)) Would also explain why now the Ducks feed is on.

Hmmh...wonder if the radio feed died in general
I’m getting the radio feed, but it’s the Ducks’ feed…
