James Mirtle of From The Rink obviously thinks the move is good for the Stars in both the short and long run.

But I've got to ask other Stars fans, since we've seen enough defensive forwards around these parts with no clue how to finish on the offensive end. Would you rather have Brunnstrom on the ice as a defensive liability if it means he's able to develop more quickly as a legitimate scoring threat?

This is just a conditioning stint.

Brunnstrom is still getting used to playing at this level and has been out for a while. I think it’s good for him moving forward to get his legs back under him with Manitoba and then come back to the team healthy.

I also think that Brunnstrom is good for this team moving forward. This WHOLE TEAM was a defensive liability just a few months ago, and yes, Brunnstrom was one of the worst. But I also think he has the ability to move improve.

Hopefully Fabian

can get back in the swing of things quickly.

I think FB doesn’t have to be an insanely awesome defender, but he’s too much of a liability on the defensive side to say that his scoring ability makes up for it.

Lots of upside

As I mentioned in my response correcting Mr. Mirtle about this just being a conditioning stint, I think Brunnstrom has been a pretty decent rookie. Most clubs in the league would happily take a rookie who can score a goal in 33% of his games (10 goals through 31 games). He definitely needs to work on his defense: a -8 through 31 games is nothing to brag about. But, things could be worse. And, he has a scorers touch. As Brandon said – with all the defensive forwards we see over the years, it’s a nice change to see someone whose upside offensively is worth a bit of liability…especially if he can fix that up a bit in the coming years.
